Galería Contempo has just announced a cocktail reception for artist/photographer Cathy Chalvignac, to take place Friday, December 28, 2012, 6:00 until 10:00 pm.
The artist has been fascinated by indigenous people throughout her life, and will be available to discuss her work, as she displays her latest canvases.
Originally from France, she and her family moved to Montreal while she was still a child.
The daughter of a creative couple - her father, a sculptor; her mother, a fashion designer - she was drawn to art at an early age, although she rejected structured schooling while attending an art school in Paris.
Chalvignac took a break from painting, focusing on photography until 1986, when she moved to Mexico, where she has remained since.
