During the weekend a new mural was brought to life in downtown Vallarta. If you walk by Morelos street, you will find a colorful skull with the "Detox" legend below it.

This latest piece of street art, which is really taking off in our region, was made by artist Tony Collantes, and it is part of the Detox Global Greenpeace Campaign.
 
Detox is a creative idea that works as a challenge for big companies to guarantee that their clothes and our rivers will be free of toxic substances.

On December 8, 2012, the Global Action Day took place asking Levi's to take on the Detox challenge. Over 700 activists, in 17 countries and 81 cities, made their voice heard with different actions.

In Mexico City, for instance, activists wearing catrina costumes took over the Levi's store in Coyoacan demanding that the jeans company takes action and stop polluting the rivers of our country.

The mural of Tony Collantes in downtown Puerto Vallarta was another effort in this well-planned campaign to let Levi's know that it needs to show a commitment to stop using toxic substances.

Zara, Mango and H&M are companies that have already taken on the Detox challenge and have started actions to stop using toxic substances on their processes.

It is a great mural by Tony, but it gets even more meaningful once knowing what's behind it.
