Free tours of Downtown Puerto Vallarta are offered every Tuesday to locals and tourists. All tours are conducted by professional guides.
Carlos Gerard, Municipal Tourism Director, commented that Tuesdays are the best day for these tours because there are no cruise ships in the city and the tour guides will be able to give better tours of attractions in the area including galleries, traditional craft markets, and points of interest, shops and restaurants.
Ludwig Estrada Virgen, Regional Tourism Director, indicated that these types of tours are popular with tourists wanting to know more about the history of Puerto Vallarta and get the kind of recommendations and insider information that they can only find with a guided tour.
He said the SETUJAL clearly supports such initiatives that have a strong impact on tourism in the city at very little cost and that it will continue working closely with the Municipal Government of Puerto Vallarta to train and update tour guides.
Guillermo Ohem, Tourism Board Director, praised the initiative and stated that he considers offering a variety of tour choices to visitors is very important.
The Puerto Vallarta Downtown Tours depart Tuesdays at 9:00 am from City Hall are 3 hours in duration.
