"Wow, you guys have really outdone yourselves!" was an oft-heard comment from the pleased attendees at Amigos de La Cruz's Season Opener Cocktail Party Thursday (Nov. 17th) evening.

The party was held at Sandzibar Restaurant, newly installed at the Alamar Beach Club at Manzanilla Beach in La Cruz. Chef Bernard Güth of Puerto Vallarta's TRIO Restaurant fame, has seen fit to open the new dining spot here out of his personal love of La Cruz and he has created a truly beautiful and engaging spot for La Cruz food enthusiasts to frequent.

The guests began arriving shortly before 6:00 pm and the incoming tide didn't let up until well after 8:00. Bernard's amazing staff worked non-stop serving up plates of incredible tapas and hors d'oeuvres including Tuna Tartare brochettes, pizzas, soups, shrimp mini burgers, spanish tortillas, falafels, ceviches and much more.

Nestled in the gorgeous grounds of the Alamar Beach Club, guests were treated to not only the world-class food, but the amazing latin/swing jazz of Al & Zoe, the Mango Duo. The serenity and sheer beauty of the setting was a source of amazement for many of the guests who had never visited the facility before.

Event Coordinator Deborah Kanarek and Amigos VP Connie Hollander spoke briefly at midpoint, thanking all parties involved in the event, introducing Amigos officers and Committee Heads and outlining group projects. Chef Bernard then spoke to the crowd and expressed his thanks and wishes for a long, successful run in this La Cruz location. He then introduced his staff to the cheers of the appreciative guests.

At evening's end, a bottle of Don Julio Reposado Tequila donated by Abarrotes de La Cruz (Mario & Chuy) was won by Amigo Sylvia Harder.

We would like to thank everyone who contributed to this successful event; the volunteers who staffed the Receiving Entry Table, The Membership/T Shirt Table and the Drink Ticket Sales Table, Deborah K. for a great job putting this together, Aruna Piroshki for being the "accountant" behind the scenes to ensure we had a "beneficial benefit", Oscar Izurieta for helping arrange this in the initial stages with Grupo Real del Mar/Alamar, VP Connie Hollander for "sweating the small stuff" and having the vision for this event in the first place, Chef Bernard and his amazing staff including Jesus, Patrick Desper for loaning his large screen TV to allow us to debut the Amigos slide show and Katrina Liana for offering to be "staff photographer" in the pinch.

Well done everyone, apologies if we've left anyone out.
