Stylish kitten at Fall Fashion Show

On Wednesday, November 16th, the El Dorado Restaurant on Los Muertos Beach hosted PuRR Project's very first event of the Season!

The PuRR-fect Fall Fashion Show, where our "star" models showed beautiful fashions from CAPRICHOSO'S Boutique located in Plaza Neptuno. Each model, of course, was adorned with elegant jewelry from CASSANDRA SHAW JEWELRY located on Basilio Badillo in Old Town.

Volunteer:

Who says you can't volunteer if you don't live in Vallarta? Loyal "volunteer", Elaine Ortiz, has found a way! On her recent visit to Vallarta, Elaine met with PuRR Project coordinators Marilyn Khan and Julie Bunker who were delighted to receive some wonderful gifts from Elaine...which will be raffled off at our Fashion Show on November 16th. Items include: Bath and Body Lotions and Shampoos, Scrunchies to bathe with, stylish hair feathers, darling cloth purses, and even cozy slippers, etc!

The weather has started to cool (well a LITTLE bit!), the snowbirds are returning, the storm clouds are retreating...yes, the "High Season" is finally here!!

And one of the favorite new things to do on weekends is check out all the local goodies at the various Farmer's Markets around the bay. This season you can once again find us at the SATURDAY MARKET at the Paradise Community Center on Pulpito in Old Town. This year we have PuRR T-shirts and beautiful notecards (featuring our shelter cats) and other goodies for sale to raise money to feed the cats. And of course, we'll have a selection of kittens looking to find their Forever Homes.

Come by and see us each Saturday between 10 and 2!

Adoption Update :

Children's book illustrator Wendy Rasmussen adopted Raven & Balboa last spring and now reports: "It has been an exhausting year... from the time I got home from Mexico in the spring, I had to start packing to move both my home and my studio and as Fall, approaches we are settled and loving our new space. Ray & Bo have been dears and they absolutely helped me through the trauma of disassembling my life and putting it back together again. They make me laugh all the time and I think they KNOW they are funny. I've had a lot of cats in my life but there is something special about these two. They are as different as chalk and cheese but they both have some deep connection... I can't quite explain it but they look me in the eye and sense things... maybe it's the Mexican spirituality..."

"They are definitely country cats and are outside with me in the gardens all the time... supervising of course. Raven is an incredible hunter and has gifted me with about 10 mice and shrews so far. Balboa can sleep anywhere! Whatever your shelter does, it instills trust and love in your kitties. I wish you luck with your operation and I will stop in the next time I am down!"
