Festival Anonymous is an independently organized urban art and music project on the Pacific Coast of Mexico. Ulises L. Guerrero

Over the next several months, the Banderas Bay region will host a unique festival focused on urban art and music, with the main goal of bringing "the many diverse communities of this area together in a shared cultural experience."

Festival Anonymous 2012 is themed "Art Identified" and aims to provide free access to art and music throughout the Banderas Bay, promoting "the urban arts as a positive and important form of expression."
 
The Banderas Bay is home to both tourist destinations of Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit, but it is also a vibrant artistic hub filled with artists, musicians and creative people, that have given to this beautiful corner of the Pacific Ocean a distinctive touch, that differentiates it from every other beach town of the country.
 
Anonymous 2012 is a great example of that, a completely organic and free of charge Arts Festival that will stretch along several months producing pieces of art, workshops and events throughout the different communities of the Banderas Bay, culminating in a 2-day music and art event on the shores of the Pacific Ocean.
 
According to Wikipedia, "Urban art is a style of art that relates to cities and city life often done by artists who live in or have a passion for city life." So, let's relate to our city, our community and our bay, be part of this unique festival and get to know the work of artists and musicians from all over the world that "will come together to celebrate the color, sound, and most importantly the souls that move urban life."

 
A series of special events will be taking place along the bay on the next few months, so stay tuned as we'll be announcing through our different media the date, hour and venue of each one of them.

To start with, you can visit Puerto Vallarta's downtown and take a look at the corner of Leona Vicario and Guadalupe Sanchez, where an impressive Beating Heart is coming to life as "a young local artist is collaborating with Café des Artistes on a purely artistic initiative. He is painting a mural on the tower of the restaurant, entirely donated. The symbolism behind this piece is universally significant. It includes a large 'corazon' on the face of the tower, along with vibrant and meaningful images that reflect the culture, the spirit and the people of Mexico."

Special Events of Festival Anonymous 2012

Honor the Treaties - Aaron Huey and Shepard Fairey’s project comes to PV. Festival Anonymous presents a collaboration of Honor the Treaties prints, prints of the Huichol, and the work of local muralists. During the installation come to lend a hand and join the discussion about indigenous land rights. We will be viewing Aaron Huey's films, Honor the Treaties as well as America's Native Prisoners of War from TED. Additionally, there will be lectures and discussions led by community members.'
 
Happynisms Mural Installation - Belgian artist Monk is back in the Bay and ready to paint some walls. Festival Anonymous presents Happynisms in Sayulita, with Belgian artist Monk and the Wahine Project. Come watch the mural be created, listen to the sounds of DJ Cann, and support the Wahine Project as they host another surf camp empowering local girls.

 
Bomb it! - Join us at the Beach House in Bucerias for a special FREE screening. Bomb It is an international graffiti and street art documentary directed by award-winning director Jon Reiss and premiered at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival. Filmed on 5 continents and featuring cities such as Cape Town, London, Paris, Amsterdam, and Sao Paulo, the documentary explores the interplay between worldwide graffiti movements, the global proliferation of "Quality of Life" laws, and the fight for control over public space.
