As you plan to return to the Jaltemba Bay in Riviera Nayarit, take time to hit a couple of yard sales or thrift stores to pick up dolls for the Barbie Grandma and her dedicated volunteers.

"Our goal for the 2012 holiday season is to give away 1,000 Barbies to local children," said Geri De Moss. "We are half way there, so we hope that more will come!"

Last season, 845 revitalized Barbie dolls brought smiles to the little girls. A group of New York occupational therapy students are collecting dolls, beanie babies and toys for the boys to support the Barbie give-away in Mexico.

In addition to Geri and three volunteers knitting and crocheting Barbie outfits, the ready-made clothes that come with the doll can be used. "I like to give two outfits with each doll," she explained.

Geri will be arriving in Guayabitos on November 20 and will happily accept donated dolls or doll clothes after that.

There will also be several Barbie dressing workshops in early December, and helping hands are always welcome. During the workshops, the donated dolls are lovingly bathed, coiffed, and dressed in preparation for going to schools, orphanages, and local organizations.
