As every year, Lic. Victor Ramos Flores, President of the Los Muertos Beach Fishing Club, welcomes all anglers to participate in the 5th Annual Playa de Los Muertos Fishing Tournament with registration on November 2 and competition on November 3, 2012.

The Los Muertos Fishing Club is a non-profit organization with the purpose of promoting and defending the development of sportfishing as a competitive activity, a learning experience and creating social and family integration to strengthen the foundations of our Puerto Vallarta society.

With an entry fee of only 2,000 pesos per boat, this tournament is the most affordable in Banderas Bay.

Any type of boat can participate and any fish that is brought in will be cooked for the general public.

Not too many rules are associated with the tournament: All participants must agree to follow existing fishing laws and have a current fishing license.

All participants must be present to register at 5:00 pm on November 2 at the Hotel San Marino on Rodolfo Gomez by Los Muertos Pier, where more information, tournament logistics and event souvenirs will be distributed.

The competing boats will take off from Los Muertos Beach at 7:00 am on November 3 and must return before 3:00 pm for weigh-ins. Minimum weight requirements are 7 kg for dorado (mahi mahi), 25 kg for sailfish, 25 kg for marlin and 60 kg for tuna. There is also an open water free weight category.

Only 15% of the entree fees will be used to cover the costs of the event. The balance will be divided to the winners in each category: dorado (mahi mahi) - 50%; sailfish - 20%; marlin - 5%; tuna - 5%; and, open water - 10%. There will also be surprise awards for 2nd and 3rd place in all categories. In case of a tie, the length and/or width will be the determining factor in the judges decision.

It's always a great party on the beach at the end of (and during) the fishing day and a great opportunity for friends and family to watch the anglers bring in their catches - not to mention the fish that is cooked for the public, right off the boat.
