A press conference was held this week regarding the Biblioteca los Mangos Auction 2022, which will take place on Thursday, March 3 at 6:00 pm. The event was attended by our Cultural Director Tania Mancha, María José Zorilla representing the Board of Directors, Chef Oliver Applegate and the Councilwoman of Culture Carla Castro.
Journalists, reporters and the general public listened to the details and details of this auction, which after 22 editions continues to be the most important fundraising activity for Biblioteca los Mangos.
Tania Mancha was pleased to inform that more than 70 works of art will be auctioned, ranging from sculptures and engravings to paintings in different techniques. She also commented that the community of artists from Vallarta has contributed their pieces for the benefit of the library, some at 100% donation and others at 50%. This is very valuable because it makes it clear that the library is sustained thanks to the will of everyone.
Chef Oliver Applegate - representing the restaurateurs and businessmen of the region - emphasized the importance of joining this type of activities and invited his colleagues to contribute with a service or product. It is worth mentioning that during the event not only art will be auctioned, but also a wide range of commercial products, such as boat rides, hotel nights, massages, dinners at distinguished restaurants, medical certificates, desserts and fashion items, to name a few.
On her part, María José Zorrilla made a list of the works of the artists that will be exhibited during the auction. She mentioned that artists such as Jim Demetrio, Rogelio Díaz, Marcela Lepe, Ramis Barquet, Manuel Adria, Nelly Wulf, César Girón, Daría González, Carmina Díaz, Rebeca Santiago, Gonzalo Espinoza, Josef Kandoll, Óscar Rolón, Adriana Romero, Pedro Tello, Alexis Ríos, Davis Birks, Ada Colorina, Marcela Lepe, Antonio Cortés, Arturo Flores, Fernando Sánchez, Vicente Rojo and Chucho Reyes, among others, will be participating.
Councilwoman Carla Castro was pleased to be able to contribute to the Library with different amenities that will make the night of Thursday, March 3 an unforgettable evening, full of music and a good atmosphere. She happily recalled that much of her childhood was spent in the corridors, bookshelves and halls of our library, and that she still has happy memories of that time.
To conclude, our Cultural Director Tania Mancha emphasized the value and social good that Biblioteca los Mangos means to this port, since it is the nucleus that concentrates a large part of its cultural and literary activity, housing more than 25 thousand books and multiple events during the last quarter of a century. He also invited people to join this celebration to keep alive and vibrant this that has given so much satisfaction to the inhabitants and visitors of this city.
