The Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board joins the effort to reward outstanding Mexicans, as in the case of Mariana Avitia, the Olympic medalist who won the bronze medal at the recent Olympic Games in London 2012.

Puerto Vallarta awarded Mariana Avitia for her outstanding achievement in archery with an all expense paid trip to Vallarta.

From her native Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mariana Avitia is now visiting Vallarta, accompanied by her mother, Maria del Carmen Martinez.

They toured downtown Puerto Vallarta, the Malecon and main plaza, the Church of Guadalupe, Cuale Island, the Romantic Zone and ended with a delicious meal at The River Café.

They are looking forward to more activities while they are here including visiting the Garza Blanca Preserve & Resort, where they will also enjoy the Hamara Spa and have fun snorkeling, kayaking, catamaran sailing with Vallarta Adventures and visiting Las Caletas.

Both Mariana Avitia and her mother said that they had not been able to visit Puerto Vallarta in 13 years and were pleasantly surprised about how the city has grown and how nice it is.

The State of Jalisco and the City of Puerto Vallarta, in conjunction with the local tourism industry, congratulate the success of this young Mexican athlete and continue to encourage young talents to represent Mexico with such outstanding achievements.
