The 64rd Pacific Fisheries Technologists (PFT) annual conference will be held at Paradise Village Resort & Spa, located in Nuevo Vallarta, Nayarit, México, on February 10-13, 2013.

The PFT 2013 Planning Committee is working on an exciting program and invites participants from the seafood industry, academia and government agencies to this annual international meeting of presentations, discussions and social interactions.

The theme for this year's meeting, "A Sea of Opportunities Through Science," opens a diversity of options in seafood research, in areas such as:

Aquaculture and Feeds · Biochemistry · Byproducts · Chemistry · Education/Extension · Engineering · Entire Utilization of the Catch · Environmental Issues · Fish Harvesting and Handling · Fishery Management Issues · Marine Biology · Marketing · Microbiology · Preservation · Processing · Quality · Regulatory Issues · Safety · Shellfish · Sustainable and Responsible Fisheries · Value-added Products · Waste Management and Beyond

PFT holds annual meetings for the presentation of papers and discussions of technical scientific matters relating to the fisheries industries and to collaborate with research institutes, universities, and governmental agencies engaged in fisheries work.

Presentations (oral and poster) range from current seafood: research, innovations, regulations, economics, safety, quality, and trends.

For this occasion, English and Spanish oral presentations will be held. Simultaneous translation service will be available.

Call for Papers to be submitted by January 4, 2013

Three awards will be given for posters and three for oral presentation. Oral and poster competitions will be held ONLY in English.

There will be oral presentations and a poster session. Oral presentations will fit into 20-minute time slots. Plan on a 15-minute presentation followed by 5 minutes for questions and comments. Binder clips will be used to hold the poster in place on a foam core easel board (39" wide x 56" high x 1/8" thick). Posters should be readable from a distance of 3 feet.

Student Competition Information

There will be six student paper competition awards to recognize the top three oral and poster presentations. Please note your interest in joining this contest when you submit your abstracts.
