About 9 thousand plants of Leucaena, a legume that serves to give protein to livestock and better quality feed, were planted in the Banderas Bay Highlands.

Leucaena is a legume fodder crop that grows in tropical and subtropical environments.

The plants were supplied by the municipal government, headed by Rafael Cervantes Padilla, which was unprecidented in the Highlands of Bahia de Banderas, according to the Director of Rural Development of the Town Hall, Gonzalo Calderón Preciado.

It was explained that the properties of this shrub fixes nitrogen to the soil and livestock graze the plants for food, creating lean results quickly and giving better quality of milk, meat, and reproduction.

Calderón Preciado reported that the Leucaena was planted about 60 days ago by the staff of the Municipal Nursery, with the technique required to have them properly placed.
