Join Debra Triplett and Betty Nunez for the return of Casa Cooking Classes for the upcoming 2012 - 2013 season.

This year features new menus using the freshest local foods. Learn about ingredients, utensils and techniques that make the difference.

Classes start in November and continue through March.

Each cooking class includes the authentic Mexican meal featuring the day's entree and side dishes, plus a popular Casa Margarita.

The bar seating arrangement and central demonstration areas get you close to the action and encourage participation. Plus, the poolside venue with sounds of the beach, waves and palm breezes make this a perfect afternoon of food and friends!

As a bonus you are given a complimentary gift and delicious, traditional recipes!

The Casa Cooking this year will also emphasize buying. Sign up for the Monday Market Overview and go shopping for the freshest local ingredients you can find from the bounty of Jaltemba Bay! Finish with a snack and Casa Margarita back at Casa de Los Pelicanos.

Three Monday Market Overview field trips are planned for November 26, January 12 and February 10. You will learn how and where to buy the best local fresh ingredients and the traditional specialties that will make your Mexican dishes authentic. We take you to the local Carniceria (meat market), Pescaderia (fish market), Creameria (deli with cheeses, creams, meats, spices, etc), Fruiteria (chilis, fruits, vegetables), Tortilleria and Panaderia (bakery). A wealth of information!

Whether you have been coming for years or just for a short visit you are going to learn about the products available here that will enhance your Mexican experience...opening new possibilities for dining in while you are here or taking it home with you so you can enjoy some of your favorite mexican foods back home. We return to Casa De Los Pelicanos to taste and learn how to make special snacks with some of the chilis and cheeses that you learned about AND a Margarita!

Transportation is provided for our field trip to special markets around Jaltemba Bay. We will meet at Casa de los Pelicanos B&B (#5 Pelicanos, Guayabitos) promptly at 11:00 am and finish around 2:00 pm. Bring a notebook and pencil/pen for taking notes. You may want to do some shopping while on the "field trip" so consider bringing your own bag; we are often offered discounts as a class.
