Ambulances and Medical Equipment Donated to Nayarit ASMDC

Six months after a visit to the Mexican State of Nayarit to discuss issues of mutual interest, including immigration, education, commerce, safety and health, Assembly Members Ben Hueso (D-San Diego), Ricardo Lara (D-Bell Gardens), and Roger Hernández (D-West Covina) delivered three ambulances and medical equipment to Nayarit Governor Roberto Sandoval Castaneda.

The ambulances replace non-functioning equipment and will provide services to remote areas throughout the state.

"Our efforts have founded a strong working relationship with Nayarit where we are working on issues of mutual concern and benefit such as the economy, trade, health and education. I am pleased to be a part of the Fiesta de Nayarit celebrations and thank Schaefer Ambulance Services, McCormick Ambulances and San Luis Ambulances for their donation of medical equipment and ambulances," said Assembly Member Ben Hueso.

The ambulances and medical equipment were donated by California Ambulance Association members Schaefer Ambulance Services, McCormick Ambulances and San Luis Ambulances. They were delivered during the opening ceremonies of La Feria de Nayarit in California, which celebrates the culture, food and artisan richness of the state of Nayarit.

There are approximately 500,000 Nayarit descendants that reside in California, 240,000 of which live in Southern California. This figure alone highlights the importance of continuing the work of maintaining a relationship of dialogue, cooperation and cultural exchange between Nayarit and California.

"During our visit to Nayarit in January we focused on finding solutions to the many challenges that face our communities in both countries. It is gratifying to be able to partner with local leaders to tackle a very immediate need in that state. The resources that are being made available will ultimately save lives throughout the state and improve the quality of life for many more residents," said Assembly Member Ricardo Lara.
