Henderson Dog Park was filled with four-legged visitors Sunday, in a reunion of dogs who were rescued in Mexico and now have homes in Victoria.

It was the 5th annual MexPup Reunion bringing together many of the dogs saved by the animal rescue for a chance for them to play together, and for anyone interested in adopting a dog to get information.

Most of the dogs were rescued from Puerto Vallarta, but the group also saves dogs in BC and from the Northwest Territories.

“The idea around this event is to bring awareness to the before and after of all the dogs off the streets of Mexico,” said Patti Marchak.

“Some of these dogs have seen pretty atrocious lifestyles and were treated very badly, so this is a chance for the adoptive families to come out for prospective new adoptive families to come out, to meet [the dogs].”

MexPup says there are many former street dogs in need of a home.
