'Hearts for Allison' Fundraiser in La Cruz Team Angels/Cindy Bouchard - Amigos de La Cruz

As many know, Allison, who is eight years old, returned from Guadalajara in the middle of May after she endured two open heart surgeries. She was looking forward to recovering and getting her and her family back to a normal routine.

Unfortunately, after her return, her condition has continued to deteriorate. On the urging of family and friends and with Allison's continued weakness and swelling in her abdomen, the family sought a second opinion last week.

The new Cardiologist found that the hole in her heart (that was closed during the first surgery) has reopened. They also found that the heart valve that was damaged by MRSA during the first surgery and repaired during the second surgery is barely functioning.

The Cardiologist was startled at her condition and immediately referred her to the chief of surgery at Instituto Nacional De Cardiologia Ignacio Chavez in Mexico City. This is the premier location in Mexico for cardiac care.

After two and a half months in the hospital in Guadalajara with mom and dad by her side, the family is in need of help once again. With the continued support of The North Bay Charity (responsible, along with Britannia and Octopus's Garden, for the street party back in March) along with several groups and many, many individual donors, the family made it through the ordeal in Guadalajara.

Since their return to La Cruz, dad has been able to return to work at the Peninsula in Nuevo Vallarta, however, mom has needed to be by Allison's side. Once again the family will be uprooted to Mexico City with no idea of a return date.

We are asking once again for you support to raise money for airfare, room and board and medical expenses.

On August 10th, beginning at 3:00 pm there will be an official fundraiser of “Hearts For Allison” sponsored by the North Bay Charity at Britannia Pub in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle.

The event will include:

• All you can eat Fish and Chips for 200 pesos (please buy your tickets in advance for the food portion)

• Live music from an assortment of bands!!

• A silent auction for some great items (please let us know if you have something to donate at amywelchpdx@comcast.net)

• A bake sale including Mark the Pie Guy from PV and MY Cakes La Cruz along with items from others and home bakers as well

• A fashion show featuring the styles and designs of Gloria's Place in La Cruz

• Raffle for various offers
