Chef Thierry of Café des Artistes and Thierry's Steak House led the children in the closing class of the "Summer Kitchen."

Vanessa Blouet came up with the idea for a week long fun cooking class for 20 children of different ages and was supported by Chef Thierry. The class took place the week of July 9-14.

The Vallarta Opina reported that during the closing ceremony, organized by Blouet and Itzia, they stopped by to ask some questions about the class. The young emtrepreneurs stated that they were excited to dive into the world of gastronomy.

The idea for the class was to create a fun cooking class for the children to keep them from getting bored during their summer vacation and to convey a little or a lot of what Vanessa had learned from her dad. They also presented the work plan along with activities and games and convinced Chef Thierry to head up the last class.

The class was fun and the children learned a lot. "It's an interesting challenge to keep watch on so many children. Every day we had to add some fun and even had a Rally-game in the garden of the restaurant. All activities revolved around the kitchen, food and etiquette."

"We always hear that working with children is very difficult. Our biggest challenge was finding the right activities to achieve and maintain the attention of all participants. It was also gratifying to pass on what I've learned in the kitchen of Chef Thierry. Hopefully, we've done well!"

The staff agreed that all participants took the time to learn about hygiene practices, table etiquette and especially cooking...and it looks like there is some future talent there.

Organization and patience was the key to success of the course. Everyone is different and each requirement had to be addressed individually.

Chef Thierry Blouet was asked about his experience in giving the cooking class for the children.

He replied, "The truth is that it was sensational! and very fun for me! I think also for them! They are much more attentive than I expected and the 6 year olds had some very good questions! I was amazed! The kitchen is a very technical and disciplined profession but also very fun and a great experience to share it with children 6 to 14 years old."

When asked what he thought about the idea and results of the cooking class, Chef Thierry answered that he was impressed with all the work that had been done in planning, inventing, imagination, designing, attending to small details, the pre-registration, marketing and then completing the six days with such professionalism.
