GUATDEFOC – Official Trailer (PMCanal5)

Mexican director Fernando Lebrija’s new film, “Guatdefoc,” about the adventures of American students on spring break in Mexico, will hit theaters on Friday.

The feature film follows American college students Logan and Blake, played by Devon Werkheiser and Sean Marquette, respectively, as they party in Puerto Vallarta, a Pacific resort city in the western state of Jalisco.

The party atmosphere took hold of the cast and crew not just in front of the cameras, but also behind the scenes, the actors said.

“Weren’t we partying? I don’t remember anything,” Werkheiser joked during a press conference.

Marquette, for his part, acknowledged that making the film was hard work, with the cast and crew often putting in 16-hour days.

The partying started on Fridays as soon as the director yelled “cut!” for the last time, Marquette said, adding that he made it a habit to bring a bottle of liquor to the set to celebrate.

Lebrija, the director of “Amar a morir” (2009), said some members of the cast and crew “strayed from the path” and “ended up in bad places.”

“Several of them had to quit the film” and a few “even ended up in jail,” Lebrija said.

The director said he hoped the film would make Puerto Vallarta better known among tourists, adding that he traveled to Thailand after seeing the second part of “The Hangover.”

“Guatdefoc” also features Mexican actors Silverio Palacios and Karla Souza, as well as Americans Teri Hatcher and John Michael Higgins.
