The first race of the "Super Hero" will be held on Sunday, April 17 with the aim to raise funds for students of Karate-Do Okinawa-Te in Puerto Vallarta to participate in a statewide contest to be held in June in the city of Guadalajara.

At a press conference, the Director of the Municipal Council of Sports (COMUDE), José Amador Hernández Madrigal, said Mayor Arturo Davalos Peña is to support the different expressions of local sport, "it will be a different race, aimed at children in an attractive way, allowing them to practice the sport in a fun way instead of a difficult competition and sharing time with their favorite hero."

The Director of the School of Karate-Do, Francisco Crisosto, reported that it has been in existence for 37 years and is the only school in this town that is affiliated with the Mexican Federation of Karate, "and has brought state & national champions, the year before we had a classification to Panamerican, however very good competitors have fallen by the wayside for lack of resources."

Therefore, it was decided to hold an event to raise funds, with the support of COMUDE.

He added that it is important for the 40 students to have a chance to participate in local karate events and in other cities to improve their skills.

The event will be held on the track of the Agustin Flores Contreras Sports Stadium (across from the Sheraton) from 8:30 in the morning, at which different obstacles will be installed in six categories: Super Baby (3-5 years) mixed; Flash (6-8 years) women's / men's; Incredibles (9-11 years) women's / men's; Maravilla (12-14 years) women's / men's; Invincibles (15-17 years) women's / men's; and Spider (18 and older) women's / men's.

The registration fee is 50 pesos for children and 100 pesos for adults and includes an event shirt to the first 100 participants, medal for the first three places in each category; there will be hydration centers and paramedical care service.
