Spending a week in Puerto Vallarta, left my wife and I with time to explore the area. Hidden Mexico offered by Vallarta Adventure showed us Puerto Vallarta’s southern region from the palms to the pines. At an elevation of more than 2,000 feet, we visited the 16th century village of El Tuito and soak in its rich history and cooler mountain air. We also visited beautiful gardens, a traditional bakery, and an organic farm for a delicious lunch set in a refreshing river. Experience regional highlights that give you unique insight into the area and the lives of the residents.
This trip was incredibly entertaining and I say that as our day initially started bad with a taxi driver trying to overcharge us for a ride. Despite having a bad experience from one of Mexico’s rude drivers, the people at Vallarta Adventure made up for it. Juan Carlos, our tour guide was extremely friendly and entertaining throughout the day. We boarded a truck along with two other families and took off to see some of the area.
During the trip, we explored Mexico’s rich flora with a walk through this botanical wonderland. Now, this is something that you should easily try doing for the whole day. Maybe, we will be back and attempt it. For now, we got just a small but great taste of it. We also explored the center of town and main church on a brief walking tour.
We visited pre-Hispanic petroglyphs that are more than 1,200 year old and are still being studied today be historians to determine their meaning. For those who enjoy a bit of discussion on vacation this was extremely interesting. We also sampled local artesian breads baked in a primitive, hillside, wood fired oven like they were baked for hundreds of years before the arrival of modern ovens. This was very tasty and had many in the group purchasing extra bread to enjoy during the day.
We stopped at an organic farm to relax and enjoyed a delicious lunch...
