Note: Riviera Nayarit Hot Air Balloon Festival Postponed
The decision has been taken to postpone the Riviera Nayarit Hot Air Balloon Festival for safety reasons due to the recent weather conditions in Banderas Bay.
The new dates for the Festival will be announced shortly and all refunds will be made by the same means the tickets were obtained.
Riding a hot air balloon is an exhilarating activity that allows admiring the beauty of nature on its own splendor, aloft. Mexico, placed amongst the countries with most natural reserves and beauty, has different locations which offer visitors the fascinating experience of soaring above breathtaking sceneries. Guanajuato state, for instance, has become the most renowned in the country for their International Balloon Festival, but everyday more and more destinations get their own place on the list.
This year Riviera Nayarit by the Mexican Pacific, sums up performing its very First Balloon Festival. From March 18th to 20th, hot air balloons will make their way through the sky flying above impressive natural settings that surround the riviera. There will be plenty of activities joining the display of colors that sprinkle the sky: an antique car exhibition, motocross circuits, aircrafts guided by remote control, traditional food and regional products on sale, among others.
Official announcement of including this attraction to the vast offering in Riviera Nayarit, was received with grand pomp and ceremony as this never-seen-before event is counting on a large number of exhibitors and visitors, resulting in a very positive economic impact for the destination.
Organizers show no intention of comparing this event to the one held in Leon, Guanajuato -celebrating its 14th edition this year-, but a promise remains that First Balloon Festival Riviera Nayarit will build memories to last a lifetime.
For those curious minds wondering how these majestic objects can actually fly, here some interesting facts. The material used to build them is nylon, or polyester, covered with a thermal insulation of polyurethane; balloons are propelled by a giant mass of air that become lighter when reaching temperatures among 80-100ºC thanks to the heat emitted by burners of propane gas. The miracle occurs from the combination of Archimedes Principle of Fluids and the action of air currents that help the balloon actually dive the skies.
