Around 20 years ago, a motorsport event was organized with vehicles from all over Mexico that gathered in Guadalajara and would come together to Puerto Vallarta.

It was called "Vallartazo" and it has become an important tradition in the motorsport world.
 
This year, organizers are expecting around 10,000 participants that will make the trip on motorcycles, ATVs, jeeps and all types of 4x4 vehicles, as they travel across the mountains through the villages of Guachinango, Atenguillo and Mascota.

Imelda Lozano, Coordinator of this event, pointed out that the event was started 20 years ago "and the idea was to bring people to Puerto Vallarta in the most complicated month."
 
On September 13, all the participants will gather together in Guadalajara to start the trip, with the arrival to Puerto Vallarta scheduled on September 15, just in time for the commemoration of the Mexican Independence Day. The participants will be greeted in Vallarta with a "welcome feast."
 
The authorities of the city and business owners are planning a joint effort to receive them with open arms and offer them great deals, showing them they are welcome, and letting them know how much the region appreciates that they keep coming year after year.
