The 9th Championship of Horse Dancers in Puerto Vallarta is expected to attract over 500 participants from horse owners, trainers, grooms, family and friends, who will spend the weekend in this port, leaving an abundant economic benefit and promotion among fans of the horses, according to Fortunato Gomez, event organizer.
"These types of events are organized on the weekends so the participants can bring their families to enjoy all the championship activities and also experience the beauties of the region."
Organizers said that Puerto Vallarta is the only port in the country where these traditions associated with horses such as rodeos, skirmishes and in this case the dancing horses are held.
So far there are 36 units registered with even more are expected at the last moment, "we expect the horses of three categories: Creole, Spanish and Españofrisian as usual but in the past we have even had burros registered which is fine as long as they know how to dance."
This year, participants will come from the states of Sonora, Sinaloa, Guerrero, Michoacan, Colima and Nayarit.
As for the schedule of activities, the organizers announced Friday, November 27 the traditional parade "Maleconeada" will take place beginning at 7:00 pm at the Sheraton Hotel and travel south to Los Arcos on the Malecon.
At 5:00 pm on Saturday, November 28 the National Competition will be begin at the rodeo arena of Lienzo Charro Miguel Prieto Ibarria with prizes of an average 50,000 pesos to be distributed among the first place winners. On Sunday there will be bull riding competitions and Mariachis.
