Sea Lion Takes GoPro on Underwater Tour in Mexico (Panga MX)

This mesmerising footage provides a unique view of the ocean floor through the eyes of a sea lion.

The marine mammal recorded its journey through waters in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico after a team of divers attached a GoPro camera to its back and sent it on its merry way.

The sea lion had previously been rescued by a non-profit organisation, after it was found bleeding on a beach following a suspected shark attack.

After being nursed back to health and re-released to the ocean, the sea lion remained in touch with the humans who rescued it.

As a result the divers share a unique relationship with the animal and have even played with it in the water on occasion.

The strong bond enabled the group to attach the camera to the marine mammal with a chest strap in order to gain an insight into its world.

Captured on camera the sea lion is initially filmed interacting with the divers while twisting and turning playfully in the water.

Once the GoPro has been strapped to its back, the sea lion captures the murky ocean floor in front while swimming around slowly.

The animal then picks up its speed and causes a school of fish to disperse as it powers its way through the water with ease.

The end of its journey shows the animal swimming around the divers before the GoPro is removed.

The video concludes with the sea lion posing for the camera and even sticking its tongue out for the divers before blowing bubbles at them.
