The Mayor of Puerto Vallarta, Arturo Dávalos Peña, participated in the groundbreaking for the first piece of the kitchen that marks the beginning of the construction for the School of Gastronomy Gourmet Station of the University of Guadalajara in Puerto Vallarta, which will bring together learning, culture, research and promotion of Mexican cuisine.

This is the first project of its kind developed by a public university, which will become a landmark for the city and will empower tourism and the restaurant and hotel industry in Puerto Vallarta and the region.

In its first stage, this work will have an investment of 54 million pesos, 24 of them assigned as part of the budget of the University of Guadalajara, while the federal government authorized directly providing the other 30 million pesos for this project.

The new facility will consist of six buildings and include 7,300 square meters and will be based on three themes: education; scientific research and offer a degree in gastronomy and graduate level; culture and the market for the development of regional products.

At the start of this project, Mayor Arturo Davalos was accompanied by Governor Aristoteles Sandoval Diaz, the general director of the University of Guadalajara, Tonatiuh Bravo Padilla; Raul Padilla Lopez, president of the University of Guadalajara Foundation; Marco Antonio Cortez Guardado, rector of the University Center of the Coast and Hector Garcia Curiel, CEO of Uniterra during the laying of the first piece of the gourmet station, which symbolizes the cornerstone of this space.
