With an investment of 250 million pesos, the new road between La Cruz de Huanacaxtle and Punta Mita, is being constructed in the municipality of Bahia de Banderas, Riviera Nayarit. Work is expected to be complete in December of this year for the use and enjoyment of locals and thousands of tourists every year who visit the Riviera Nayarit.

Juan Ignacio Avila Ruiz, Public Works Secretary of State, said that the new road is being built to attract more domestic and foreign tourism to the beach destinations in the south coast of the state.

In addition to shortening the distance between the two municipalities, this road provides safety and convenience to the thousands of motorists.

On the technical specifications of this work, Ávila Ruiz explained that the road is 7.2 kilometers in distance with asphalt and four lanes. He added that the construction allows the passage of wildlife in the area.

He recalled that during the tours of the area by Banderas Bay Governor Roberto Sandoval Castañeda, the inhabitants of La Cruz de Huanacaxtle and Punta Mita asked if an alternate road could be built as the current road is dangerous and unsafe with countless curves.

For the construction of this new roadway, the State Government through the Ministry of Public Works met in a timely manner with the Environmental Impact Statement and change of land use in this area.
