The Riviera Nayarit recognizes that everybody’s ideal Mexico vacation isn’t strictly about sun and sand, and so the destination has tapped into wellness, adventure and fitness options as part of its pitch to travelers.
The Pacific coast destination’s tourist office advises visitors “to pack your yoga pants and running shoes and shake up your wellness routine.”
Bike enthusiasts can get a quad-burning, five-mile workout with Wildmex adventure company on the terrain from Las Lomas to Sayulita.
Bikers pedal on old jeep roads through a mango plantation to the beach town of San Pancho, continue on through jungle to a small mountain pass, race downhill to Malpaso Beach and ride along the ocean to Sayulita.
Pricing begins at $75 per person for a group of two or more.
The Lunazul Surf School and Shop in Sayulita offers 90-minute private surfing lessons or a group surf camp for short- and longboard surfing.
Private lessons are $55 per person; group rate (maximum of four) is $40 per person.
The lesson includes equipment rental, instruction, one hour of surfing and an additional one-hour surfboard rental post-lesson.
