From beach venders and four-legged animals to murals and landmarks, participating four-person teams will leave no clue unturned as they walk around Puerto Vallarta's Old Town on Saturday afternoon, July 21, from 1:00 to 7:00 pm for the inaugural community-wide Scavenger Hunt to benefit Pasitos de Luz, a local organization that treats children with disabilities.
Pre and post-hunt festivities take place at Nacho Daddy's Mex Tex Restaurant & Bar located at 180 Basilio Badillo in Old Town Vallarta.
Team entry is 500 pesos. Individuals are also encouraged to participate and will be assigned accordingly.
Event organizers Tim Longre of PVRPV, Lori Lorenzen of Rio Amapas Private Luxury Residences and Charlotte Semple, Carole Fast of Xocodiva Artisan Chocolates, promise a fun day for all of the teams as they search key locations around town using their Smartphones to document their progress.
Winning teams will be selected based on completion time and accumulated points and various categories at the after-party.
The championship team will receive a 5,000 peso cash prize, with the 2nd place team winning 3,000 pesos and 3rd place prize will be 1,500 pesos, while other finalists and team goers vie for other prizes including travel getaways, dining vouchers, artwork, wine and more.
Not in the Hunt? Join us at Nacho Daddy's at 6:00 pm for the post hunt party. There will be food and drink specials, 50/50 draw and lots of great raffle prizes to be won. Prizes include vacation getaways to Punta Mita, San Pancho and Riviera Nayarit, restaurant gift certificates to upscale Puerto Vallarta restaurants, a Rhythm of the Night tour and much, much more! All proceeds from the event go to benefit Pasitos de Luz.
Scavenger Hunt winners will be announced at 7:00 pm.
Pasitos de Luz is a 7:00 am - 7:00 pm, 5 day a week rehabilitation center that provides FREE medical, educational, nutritional and well being services to 120 (60 on a daily basis, 60 rotating) children with severe disabilities (quadriplegic, Down syndrome, Hunters syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, total and partial paralysis, sequelae of meningitis, hydrocephaly and muscular dystrophy).
Because of the intensive assistance requirements of these special children, the cost for their care is higher than for most children in Mexico. Many of the children at Pasitos de Luz cannot feed themselves; sit, stand or move without help; speak or hear; and most, ranging in age from 1 year to 20 years, wear diapers.
100% of the funds raised at this event will go towards caring for the children. In addition to caring for the children, Pasitos de Luz also needs to cover its operating costs (electricity, gas, water). Its operations are entirely funded though donations from individuals or events such as this one.
