Certification Program for Riviera Nayarit Hotel Security Personnel Jorge Jimenez - CVB of Riviera Nayarit

The first Security Certification Program for Hotel Facilities was recently held thanks to the commitment of the Banderas Bay Hotel and Motel Association (AHMBB by its acronym in Spanish) towards its associates; the event took place in coordination with the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB).

The Riviera Nayarit is a trustworthy destination, with a safety factor rewarded via visitor preference. Thus the importance and relevance of this joint action by the AHMBB’s Human Resources and Safety Committee.

The 33 individuals that lead the hotel security teams completed the 64-hour Certification Program, considered as having been “tailor-made” for the Destination.

“This was a great experience because they gave us plenty of tools that will help us improve the security work we do on a daily basis as well as directly supporting the efficiency of the hotels. Dealing with emergencies is a fantastic opportunity for growth and it also allows us to examine more closely every aspect of prevention,” commented Luis Añorve Marin, 20-year veteran in the industry and head of security for the Palladium. Marin formed part of the group receiving the certification.

The 18 participating hotels included the Hard Rock Hotel, Villa del Palmar, Vallarta Gardens, St. Regis, Iberostar, Four Seasons, Palladium, Belair, Marival Resorts, Marival Residences, Rancho Banderas, Real Del Mar, Grand Velas, Decameron, Dreams Villamagna, Grupo Vidanta and Samba.

The eight modules that were taught from April 23 – June 11 were: Security Administration; the Legal Framework of Private Security in Tourism Facilities; Physical Safety for Hotel Facilities; Risk Analysis; Vulnerabilities and Security Audit; Criminology and the Psychological Basis of Dangerous Human Behavior; Research; Civilian Protection; Crisis Management and a business continuity plan.
