On Friday, June 12, 2015 The Jazz Foundation opened in Puerto Vallarta, a space dedicated to the dissemination of jazz and it will also be a forum for carrying out different cultural activities.

At the opening presentation were Fernando Toussaint, composer and musician, promoter of jazz and creator of the successful Jazz Festival in the Riviera Maya for over 12 years in Playa del Carmen; musician Erik Montenegro; and Alain Derbez, writer, musician, and author of the book "The History of Jazz in Mexico."

Jorge Dau said that The Jazz Foundation was not only created to supply the boardwalk (Malecon) with new nightlife, but also to add cultural options to our destination. He stressed that the project was created because "we want Vallarta to feel proud to have a beach jazz club which also allows having different artistic presentations such as puppet shows, book presentations, poetry readings, discussions on subjects of humanities and sciences. We believe Vallarta has the size and the type of people needed for this project to consolidate among the citizens that live here and the tourists."

Fernando Toussaint of The Jazz Foundation praised the organizers for their initiative. "I'm proud to know those responsible for this project, and surprised at what has been achieved in Puerto Vallarta. In my experience in Playa del Carmen, we have consolidated a Jazz Festival that is recognized worldwide and feel that this excellent quality site in Vallarta is capable of great accomplishments."

A Classic Bar and Creole Cooking

About the decor of the location, Jorge Dau emphasized that the bar is inspired by the classics of jazz clubs, "it is decorated with musical motifs of jazz and serves traditional and specialty drinks."

The menu is inspired by the recipes of what is offered in New Orleans, Creole cuisine, which is a principle of the space.

The Jazz Foundation is located at Allende 166, Downtown Vallarta at the Malecon. Telephone is (322) 113-0295.
