While the Citizens Movement (Movimiento Ciudadano - MC) yesterday evening proclaimed victory of its candidate for Mayor of Puerto Vallarta, Arturo Davalos Peña, the PRI recognized the disadvantage in the trend of the votes cast on Sunday 7 June in the city.

It was nearly 10:30 pm when the three candidates of the Citizens Movement were proclaimed winners in the election on Sunday, when the preliminary vote count showed them outweighing their opponents by more than 10 thousand votes.

The candidate for mayor, Arturo Davalos Peña, stated that in all three cases the trend was similar and the election was won by a large margin.

For his part, Andrés González Palomera of PRI accepted the disadvantage in trends and the PRI said it will decide whether there are grounds for contesting the election or not.

Along with Arturo Davalos, it appears that Ramón Guerrero Martínez has won as candidate for the local council, and Luis Ernesto Munguía, candidate for federal deputy for the fifth district of Jalisco, with headquarters in Puerto Vallarta.

Juan Jose Cuevas Garcia, PAN candidate for Mayor, acknowledged that these are unfavorable election results and said it will add to the work of the next administration to benefit Puerto Vallarta. He regretted that abstention will be the big winner, as hardly 40% of citizen participation was noted.

It is considered that the victories achieved with the election returns in the state reflect the growth of MC because the people are trusting them more and more.
