For the second year there will be no parade on May 1 Labor Day in Puerto Vallarta, confirmed the Secretary General of the Federation of Jalisco (CTM), Rafael Yerena Zambrano.

The CTM leader acknowledged that the reason to prevent the parade was because it could be "contaminated" with the campaign and promotion of candidates by a political party.

The leader of the CTM workers in the state said in principle it was "safe" to have the parade in the city but to elaborate on the reasons, said that those conditions relate to "political time" given that this is a time when political passions are running high so is best to avoid politicizing such an event.

He emphasized that if you can not maintain an institutional Labor Day Parade, it is best not do it, and to leave the celebration of workers to another time when there are more appropriate conditions.

In Puerto Vallarta the May 1 parade was held for more than three consecutive decades until last year when it was suspended by the current Mayor Ramon Guerrero Martinez. In fact, the union leader recalled that at times in the past, the parade of workers included the handing out of t-shirts, stickers and propaganda of some political parties.

He said that the city workers know their rights are guaranteed and not having the Labor Day Parade does not imply that they are being neglected because they are always well supported by their union CTM representatives and can exercise the right of petition and complaints if required.
