The ASI Surfing Instructor Certification Course Level 1 will take place April 27-29, 2015 in Bucerias, Riviera Nayarit.

The ASI Level 1 Surfing Instructor training course is your first step in becoming a surfing instructor. Learn how to safely deliver lessons, group student management and how to create effective lesson plans. At the end of this course, you will be prepared to start delivering lessons with confidence and a ready to use format.

• The role of the surfing instructor
• Identifying laws and regulations that apply to conducting surfing lessons
• Client management and safety
• Identifying surfing lesson risks and hazards
• Emergency processes and responses
• Logistics and how to plan surfing sessions
• Suitable boards, equipment and resources

• Instruction and coaching methods
• Creating lesson plans

• Evaluating surfing lessons
• Minimising environmental impacts (social & natural)

The ASI Surfing Instructor Certification Course Level 2 will take place on April 30 through May 1, 2015.
The ASI Level 2 Surfing Coach training course is for instructors with advanced surfing skill and a minimum of 24 months surfing instructor experience. This workshop focuses on analysis and technique correction. You’ll learn how to assess and coach individuals and groups to improve surfing ability and create individualised coaching programs.

About Garry Palmer, ASI Level 4 Trainer
Garry is an ASI Level 4 Master Surfing Coach, holds surf rescue, advanced resuscitation and senior first aid qualifications. He has extensive experience in the surf industry. He’s been surfing since he was 12 and holds various state, 2001 Masters and 2004 Legends surfing titles. Garry is owner of Surf Easy Surf School and has been surf coaching for over 20 years. Garry has been operating his surf school at Currumbin since 1994 and has coached and trained thousands of people. He is a qualified education teacher, an Australian Coaching Council Level 1 coach and is a qualified kayak and canoe instructor. The Australian coaching council has awarded Garry with the Coach Recognition Award for outstanding coaching. Garry is also recognised as one of Australia’s leading recreational surfing educators. He writes surfing lesson curriculum for TAFES, colleges and schools, organises and structures curriculum for surf camps and prepares and instructs primary and high school groups in surf awareness and surfing.
