Puerto Vallarta returns to become the background and set for the new movie production of "I Brake for Gringos," consolidating our city as the ideal setting for video clips, movies and soap operas.

The Press Conference in Mexico City informed that the filming will begin on Monday, May 14, in the paradise port of Puerto Vallarta on the Mexican Pacific.

In the media presentation, those in attendance were Lic. Guillermo Ohem, Director of Tourism Trust in Puerto Vallarta; Lic. José Luis Díaz Borioli, Director of Tourism in Puerto Vallarta; Leonardo Zimbrón, Producer; Fernando Lebrija, Director, and actors Devon Werkheiser, Sean Marquette, Camille Belle and Mexican actor Silverio Palacios.

The history of Puerto Vallarta as a film set began in 1963 when the film "Night of the Iguana" was filmed in Mismaloya, on the South coast of this city. This film was directed by John Huston and the cast included Richard Burton, Ava Gardner, Deborah Kerr. Tennessee Williams, who was the author of "Night of the Iguana," visited the set regularly.

In addition, Vallarta became famous as a Hollywood set when the romance of Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor was discovered here in 1963. The couple was enchanted by the magic of Puerto Vallarta and bought Casa Kimberley.

"I Brake for Gringos Puerto Vallarta" deals with Logan, a high school student with some insecurities. His parents treated him as an immature child and not totally reliable. For Lina, Logan does not exist since she already has a boyfriend. The movie deals with the possibility of changing that situation.

Blake, Logan's best friend, discovers that Lina going to Puerto Vallarta for Spring Break and convinces Logan to pursue the girl of his dreams in Mexico.

You'll get to know Gaby, a sexy Mexican, and Chuy, an intrepid taxi driver, in a great adventure which will change their lives forever.

The producer of the film, the director and the actors agreed that Puerto Vallarta is a wonderful place to carry out this kind of film and, of course, project Vallarta as a privileged place of Mexico.

The genre of the movie is Comedy. The Director is Fernando Lebrija, Writer is Miguel Tejada-Flores, Producers are Fernando Lebrija, Leonardo Zimbrón, Willie Kutner. The film is in English and the duration is 110 minutes.

The estimated release date will be during the Fall of 2013, with an estimated cost of 4.4 million dollars.

Fernando Lebrija, Director

The Director, Fernando Lebrija, received his Bachelors Degree in Communications from Guadalajara’s Universidad Autonoma, and earned a Masters Degree in Production from the American Film Institute based in Los Angeles, California. In addition, Mr. Lebrija holds a degree in Scriptwriting from UCLA and a directing degree from USC.

He has worked in the film and television industry for more than 15 years producing over 30 programs and short films.

When his film "Love to Die" had its film debut, it was screened at numerous festivals around the world. In 2010, he received several nominations and Silver goddess Award, where he won as best Young Director and had 7 nominations including Best Director.

Fernando divides his time between Los Angeles and Guadalajara in the development of future projects through his company, Irreversible Cinema.

Miguel Tejada Flores wrote the manuscript for "Revenge of the Nerds" which became a commercial success in cinemas around the world.

Miguel has written different genres and has multiple credits including the suspense movie "Los Límites del Silencio" starring Andy Garcia and Shannon Doherty.

He also wrote and produced the critically acclaimed sci-fi series "Bienvenidos a la Paradoja" and was one of the writers of the successful of Walt Disney film, "The Lion King."

Producer, Leonardo Zimbrón, has a long list of successes with Warner Brothers Pictures in Mexico and is currently a founding partner of Filmadora Nacional, as well as head of the Imaginary Film Division of TRZ Communications.

In addition, he participates in film projects as a consultant and/or producer for studios such as Warner Brothers Pictures, Paramount Pictures and Universal Pictures in Mexico.

He has produced Spanish titles such as Efectos Secundarios (Issa Lopez, 2005), Bajo la Sal (Under the Salt, Mario Muñoz, 2008), No Eres Tu, Soy Yo (It's not you, it's me, Alejandro Springall, 2010), and Viento en Contra (Against the Wind, Walter Dohener, 2011), among many others.

Recently, he is in the process of post-production of the family comedy Nosotros los Nobles (Gary Alazraki, 2013) and EL Entrenador (Walter Doehner, 2013).

Zimbrón also has experience in distribution, with a special focus on digital platforms. Leo has offered lectures in various countries of Latin America and has participated as a judge in important festivals. He is also an active member of the Asociación Mexicana de Productores Independientes (AMPI), where he is Vice President.
