May Cultural Festivals are a tradition in Jalisco with activities centered around Guadalajara, to take place this year from May 11 to May 27, 2012.
On Friday, May 18, Puerto Vallarta is honored to present the musical concert of Les Violons du Roy, the most important chamber orchestra of Quebec, Canada, and the Guest of Honor.
Founded in 1984 by Artistic and Music Director Bernard Labadie, this orchestra adopted its name from the recognized string orchestra by Jean Baptiste Lully, who played at the Court of the Kings of France of the 17th century.
The guest conductor will be Eric Paetkau, performing The Four Seasons of Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741) and The Four Seasons Porteñas of Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992).
This year's May Cultural Festival will include 53 activities of circus and street entertainment in squares, parks, esplanades, recreation areas and train stations, in and around Guadalajara.
Among the groups that will perform in the streets are Les Chasseurs of Rêves, Collectif the Güeras Lol Brothers, LabokracBoon, Dou Hoops Theatre Biscornu, Les Foutoukours, which are part of the guest delegation of honor.
Quebec brings 207 artists who join the Mexican artists, composed of 197 creators from different parts of the country and six other nationalities.
The Cultural Festival offers a great variety of musical presentations including classical, electronic, sacred music and jazz.

The presentation of Les Violons du Roy in Puerto Vallarta will be Friday, May 18, 8:00 pm, at Theatro Vallarta, located at Uruguay #184, Col. 5 de Diciembre, El Centro, Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. The cost is 150 pesos per person.
