El Tigre Golf & Country Club proudly announces that on April 24 until April 29, 2012, we will host the third annual LPGA Symetra Tour, one of the stops of the LPGA Futures Tour.

The "Symetra Tour - Road to the LPGA" provides rising stars in women's golf with an opportunity to prepare for a career on the LPGA tour.
 
It is the world's largest international women's development tour and is committed to developing LPGA stars of tomorrow while creating viable role models for the youth today.

The top 10 money winners each season earn automatic membership on the LPGA Tour.

Former Symetra Tour players have won a total of 359 LPGA titles, including 38 major championships.

This event will have an expected participation of 144 players, including some amateurs. The total $125,000 USD in prizes includes $17,500 for first place and $12,500 for second place.

This tournament is where Lorena Ochoa started as a Professional and more Mexican players are trying to do the same.

Official practice rounds will take place all day on April 24 and resume after the Pro Am on April 25.

On Wednesday, April 25, the Pro Am will take place (4 amateurs and 1 Pro), with lots of prizes. There will be a shotgun start at 9:00 am in scramble format with no handicap. The Pro to join each group will be designated by the LPGA staff. Included in the awards ceremony lunch will be the awarding of prizes for First, Second & Third Place, Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive. The entry fee is 1,000 pesos + tax for each player or 3,400 + tax for all the team. Cost includes green fee, trophy for first place and lunch.

The Pro competition will be on April 27 & 28 and there will be a cut (top 72) for the final round on April 29 from the total field of 144 players from all over the world.

Ryann O'Toole

The defending champion from our 2011 tournament is Ryann O'Toole of San Clemente, California.

She held off some stiff competition on the final holes to win the purse presented by Pepsi.   The third-year pro started the final round tied for tenth, four shots off the lead, but she carded a bogey-free finish with six birdies to post a winning score of 8-under for a final score of 211.

The charity for the 2011 Tournament was Lorena Ochoa's Foundation. Symetra Tour events have contributed nearly $5 million to charitable organizations throughout the nation since 1989.

We still need more volunteers just for the days of competition (April 27, 28 & 29). As a volunteer, you will help us as a marshal, starter, players assistance, score keepers, etc... and we will provide you with breakfast and lunch during tournament days and two green fees that can be used in one year. The volunteers meeting will be on April 26 at 4:00 pm at the clubhouse (restaurant terrace).

El Tigre Golf & Country Club has a par of 73 and yardage of 6433 and is located at Av. Paraíso Km. 800, Casa Club, Nuevo Vallarta, Nayarit, Mexico. El Tigre will be closed for public play from Tuesday, April 24, until Sunday, April 29, and will be open to the public after the tournament.
