For the second consecutive year, the Ana María team, consisting of Esteban Torres, J. Mark Martínez, Freddy Rodríguez León and Alejandro Nájera Osuna, won first place in the Marlin fishing category with their capture of a 218.6 kg (480 lb) Blue Marlin. The team took home a prize of 60 thousand pesos in cash, a kit of four Costa del Mar lenses and visors, as well as a miniature sculpture in what was the 8th edition of the International Marlin & Tuna Fishing Tournament of Banderas Bay. The winning Marlin was hooked in the El Banco area with live bait.
Taking second place in the Marlin category was Team La Nonna, composed of Giorgio Simone, Marcel Poffet, Teo Poffet and Crescencio Hernández, who managed to bring in a Marlin of 100.6 kg (221 lb), arriving at 5:56 pm, creating a lot of excitement among the attendees because the closure time for the weigh-in was 6:00 pm.
In regards to the Sailfish, the 1st place winner was the team formed by the Lucina III, Alfredo Ocaranza, Juan Spiller, Fernando Quintero and Juan Carlos Spiller, with their Sailfish weighing in at 39.6 kg (87 lb). The 2nd place went to Team Beluga with a 32.4 kg (71 lb) with the team made up of Mauricio Plasencia Torres, Juan Manuel González, Juan Francisco González and Roberto Plasencia. Third place was taken by Team Liliana made up Fernando Civera, Cristian Gómez, Carlos González and Lilian Angulo, bringing in a 28.5 kg (63 lbs) Sailfish.
In regards to the Dorado (mahi mahi) category, fishermen Joel Arturo Sánchez and Federico Orendain of Team Cielito Lindo brought in the winning catch of 14.5 kg (32 lb).
The weigh-in, measurements and awards presentations took place at Paradise Village in Nuevo Vallarta with impeccable organization.

After the awards ceremony by the fishing club president, David Zaragoza Camacho, raffles were held and special awards were presented with toasts and smiles for a very successful tournament that was great fun for the anglers and all the fans that attended. Congratulations were given to the organizers and sponsors.
