Competition Begins for 'Miss Puerto Vallarta 2014' Puerto Vallarta Municipal Government

Entries are open until August 1 to participate in the "Miss Puerto Vallarta 2014" competition where the beauty queen will represent our city's virtues: joy, affection, personality and intelligence.

Los Arcos on the Malecon will be the venue on September 14 for the eliminations to take place. The three stages of judging will be assessed by the jury composed of representatives from cultural, educational and business sectors.

In order to obtain an accurate picture of who will be the image of our city for a period of one year, contestants will parade in swimwear, casual and formal attire, interspersed with questions to assess the talent, knowledge and development of the contestants.

Puerto Vallarta is not only characterized by the friendliness of its inhabitants, but also for the warmth and beauty of its women. An example was the winner of Nuestra Belleza Jalisco 2011, Lucía Silva González Silva, where she shined with success.

The requirements to participate are proof of birth in the town of Puerto Vallarta or to have a minimum of 3 years residence; age 17-24 years; minimum height of 1.66 meters (5.45 ft); knowledge of culture, values and traditions of Puerto Vallarta; being a student or graduate; and to be single.

To be part of the election process contestants must present, along with registration, photographs of the face and entire body in postcard size, a copy of birth certificate and photo identification.

The winner will serve with dignity until the date of the next contest with the title of Miss Puerto Vallarta, promoting the region and its customs, an honor currently held by Andrea Citlally Curiel Rodríguez, who encourages women of the city to participate in the search for the feminine image of Puerto Vallarta for the 2014 cycle.

"It has been a year of satisfaction and we know it's very difficult to win because the competition is great, but although it is a common phrase, it never ceases to be true: if you fight for your dreams you will get them," she said.
