Due to its international position as a safe state and the promotion of tourism by the Convention & Visitors Bureau and the State Government in different parts of the world, Nayarit will host the IX Summit of the Pacific Alliance, which is composed of Presidents Enrique Peña Nieto of Mexico; Ollanta Humala of Peru; Michelle Bachelet of Chile; and Juan Manuel Santos of Colombia.

The dignitaries will meet in Riviera Nayarit on June 19 and 20, 2014.

In this respect, Governor Roberto Sandoval Castañeda stressed the importance of this Summit and said Nayarit has become the internationally preferred destination not only for vacation and investment, but also for conducting meetings with key issues for developing tourist destinations in Latin American countries.

"Again, Nayarit will host an international event. This summit will bring great benefits for Mexico and Nayarit in tourism and economic development. I thank our President Enrique Peña Nieto and the countries of the Pacific Alliance to set their sights in our state and we offer them quality care and warmth," Governor of Nayarit.

President Enrique Peña Nieto is to be congratulated since he will be appointed President Pro Tempore of the Pacific Alliance during this meeting and will be guiding the agreements made in Nayarit.

The Summit will be preceded by meetings of Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Tourism, as well as the foreign ministers of the four countries of the bloc, which pushes for free trade.

It is worth mentioning that the Pacific Alliance was created in April 2011 and has among its more ambitious plans total relief in the trade of goods and services between the four nations that comprise it.

In February of this year, Nayarit hosted another event of international importance, the Conference on the Humanitarian Impact of Nuclear Weapons, organized by the UN, in which more than 140 countries were involved.
