Puerto Vallarta closed the two week holiday period for Easter with excellent results having far exceeded the expectations of hotel occupancy.

Excluding apartments and condominium rentals during the first week, the hotel occupancy reached one hundred percent. During the second week, a 90% average was recorded resulting in a direct economic impact of more than 900 million pesos for the township, as was announced by the Director of Tourism, Carlos Gerard Guzmán.

"At Easter, I dare say we were above a hundred percent in the hotels. Based on previous hotelier surveys, it was estimated that the occupancy would be between 80 and 90 percent for the Easter Weeks, so we greatly exceeded our expectations."

He noted that based on these numbers, we can ensure that this holiday season was much better than last year which was evidenced by an influx of more than 11,000 domestic and foreign tourists to the eight service modules around the city which were installed by the Municipal Tourism Office. The number of visitors to the service modules in 2013 was 9,500.

"Last year we placed six modules around town. This year, 2014, we had eight modules in different strategic points of the city located at the airport, the bus station Vallarta Plus, the Port Authority, the Malecon, downtown in the Town Square, Molino de Agua and also in Lazaro Cardenas Park."

Gerard Guzman explained that among the most frequent questions asked by our visitors was where they were, the best beaches, directions to the Marieta Islands and what activities and tours are offered in the city. Many local, national and international visitors also took advantage of our free walking tours.
