On Thursday 27th March we held the first, of what we hope to be many, annual ‘Brain Games’ at the American School of Puerto Vallarta.

This was a school-wide event in which students were posed a variety of challenges and had to work in teams to try to solve them. Critical thinking, problem solving and teamwork were certainly the key themes of the day.

Middle and High School students produced some outstanding work as they tackled the 5 activities expertly designed and led by their enthusiastic teachers.

On the day, fully functioning mobile phone apps were made, balloon powered cars were constructed that traveled for many meters and teams creatively got around restrictions to their communication and came together to solve multiple problems.

In addition we had teams passing information down a chain to recreate a beast that only one person saw and we had teams thrown out into the wild only to return unscathed with working compasses, hunting weapons, first aid solutions and even fire!

It was a wonderful, very different day at the school and was not only a fun, but also a very valuable learning experience.

Very well done to all of our students and teachers for making it such a success!
