System for Integral Family Development (DIF) of Puerto Vallarta and the Department of Social Development delivered 102 wheelchairs to people with low income in the municipalities of Puerto Vallarta and Tomatlán which was made possible thanks to the teamwork between municipal authorities and the Club Tomatlense United International Benefit Organization Inc.
This presentation took place at the premises of the Municipal DIF in this city, according to a standard developed from the month of December, with requests made to the institution through events and brigades, as well as the offices of the Municipal Council Disability (COMUDIS) and the Comprehensive Care Disabilities (PAID). The donations included 75 regular and 27 special chairs.
Magaly Fregoso Ortiz, president of the DIF welfare agency, said that these chairs generate a noticeable improvement to the physical health of the person from the moment they start using them as the change of position allows further development of the internal functions and the design provides mobility and agility to perform their daily activities.
She noted that this initiative is an example of constant struggle for integration of people with disabilities through the partnership between society and government, and thanked the teacher María del Rosario Llamas Navarro, President of the Club Tomatlense and who served as liaison and contact with members of the group living in the United States, led by Hector Brambila Villa, for their efforts in this endeavor.
Fregoso Ortiz stressed that in this way the work of Mayor Ramon Guerrero Martinez and his commitment to serving the needs of the sectors of the population living in vulnerable situations is supported and "in the DIF System in Puerto Vallarta, we open doors for all sectors of the population."
She also stressed that the Municipal DIF monitors each case in documenting the individual needs of the population and conducts a socioeconomic study, which guarantees the people receiving the support they really need.
