Miguel Ángel González García-Beltrán, Director General of the Port Administration (API) of Puerto Vallarta, confirmed that about 6,800 passengers were greeted with the traditional mariachi music in the port.

It was the fourth triple international cruise arrival of the year and a total of five triple arrivals are expected this year, which will contribute to the revival of the local economy.

Miracle Carnival Cruises, Veendam and Crown Princess arrived in Puerto Vallarta with about 6,800 passengers and 2,660 crew members, which together spent an estimated $750,000 USD, representing nearly 10 million pesos using the current approximate exchange rate of 13 pesos to the dollar.

Originally, only the Veendam and Carnival Miracle were scheduled for the Wednesday arrivals, but officials of the Crown Princess decided to make an unscheduled stop in Vallarta bringing almost three thousand passengers.

So far, the Puerto Vallarta Port Administration has confirmed the arrival of 110 international cruises for this year but that number could increase to 125 vessels with the Mexican Riviera cruises to Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Los Cabos.

Thus, this is a significant rebound in 2014 with international cruises on the route of the Mexican Riviera climbing from 82 cruises in 2013 to 110 confirmed cruises for this year.
