The natural advantages of the region of the coastal strip of Riviera Nayarit, from San Blas to Bucerias, allows surfers to find more than 20 surf spots, guaranteeing waves all year.

"Predominantly, there are beach breaks in most Nayarit beaches, which provide good waves for 365 days," says National Champion José Manuel Cano Guerrero.

"The difference is that here we have all kinds of waves in both summer and winter. In San Blas, the surf season begins from April to October, flows south, and in winter from San Pancho to Punta de Mita with the currents from the north," he explained.

Target waves are generally medium, with maximum of four to six meters in height, depending on the tide, the area and the season.

"We have several first category waves in Matanchen and Islitas, long waves that travel up to a kilometer. It is ranked as one of the most beautiful waves in the world," shared Cano Guerrero.

El Anclote, Stoner, Sayulita, San Pancho, Punta de Mita, La Lancha, Punta Burros, La Caleta, Las Rocas, Los Veneros with all the  peculiarities offer international waves that attract surfers at the highest level.

With 35 years in the sport of surfing, José Manuel shares his experience in determining that Riviera Nayarit is for all surfers with  beaches that offer amateur, intermediate and professional surfing.

From Borrego until Plantain, including Punta de Mita, there are ideal points for beginners and intermediate surfers.

In San Pancho it is advised that surfers be at the intermediate-advanced level, as it is more complicated and is not considered an easy wave. In Sayulita, like many places, you can practice all three levels.

San Blas Beach break points are Platanitos and Chacala is Stoner (Punta de Piedra). In Lo de Marcos and La Penita, there are places with variables since they need a good swell to burst the good waves.

Others like Aticama, Santa Cruz de Miramar, Los Cocos, Punta El Custodio, Bucerias, are also recognized as having good waves.

Whether your preference is Short Board, Long Board or Stand-Up Paddle Board, Riviera Nayarit is the ideal place for surfing.
