Young love: The duo got engaged after a year of dating and have just tied the knot
She was married to Sean Covel for almost two years before splitting up in July 2012.
But Alexa Vega hasn’t wasted any time getting herself hitched again and she and Nickelodeon star Carlos Pena tied the knot at the Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, on Saturday.
The Spy Kids actress took to her Twitter account to share the news, simply writing ‘Mrs Penavega,’ an amalgamation of both of their last names.
Alexa, 25 and Carlos, 24 – who is best known for his role on teen hit Big Time Rush – started dating in late 2012 and announced their engagement a year later in September 2013.
And Alexa and Sean appear to have parted on good terms with Carlos re-tweeting Sean's best wishes for the couple after the news was revealed. 'May your days be happy, lives be long, and your children, somehow, be tall,' Sean tweeted with a happy face emoticon at the end.
Alexa confirmed the engagement by walking through Los Angeles International Airport, with her princess-cut canary diamond prominently on show last September.
Before that she dropped hints on Instagram about the engagement, including a shirtless shot of Carlos with the caption reading, 'Hello fiancé...'
Carlos also shared an Instagram photo showing Alexa casually drinking a cold beverage with her left hand featuring the giant ring.
Meanwhile, Alexa recently starred as an assassin in Machete Kills who works for Sofia Vergara's character Madame Desdemona. The movie also features Amber Heard, Jessica Alba, Lady Gaga, Charlie Sheen and Antonio Banderas.
Alexa, who is known for her wholesome role in Spy Kids, learned to 'own [her] sexuality' ahead of taking on the part in Machete Kills. She told The Hollywood Reporter: 'The first time I walked out in my outfit on set, everyone was like, "Wow, you're not allowed to wear that."
'I've never done anything like this. I'd never felt comfortable enough, and I never thought this would be the project where I'd take a step forward. This was all about owning my sexuality. 'I worked really hard for it in a way that I never had to work hard for something else before.'
The movie, directed by Robert Rodriguez, sees a character called Machete recruited by the US government to battle his way through Mexico and hunt down an arms dealer who is planning to launch a weapon into space.
