With over 220 kitties at Paraíso Felino cat shelter, we distribute one 11.5 kg. bag of Kirkland brand cat food every day at a present cost of 8000 pesos monthly as well as canned food and litter with a present cost of over 2000 pesos. Even at this rate it’s been a challenge to keep up.

Now though, with the Mexican governments new PET FOOD TAX that comes into effect on January 1st, this will increase the costs by 16% on all pet foods. The government feels animals (pets) are a Luxury and maybe thinks poor people shouldn’t have any. This tax will really affect animal shelters.
To deal with these expenses, we came up with the Friends of Paraíso Felino Club where people donate 1 bag of Kirkland brand cat food or equivalent in dollars or pesos. The idea is to spread the burden thin; not putting too much load on anyone person or family.
To date, we have five steady members but desperately need more to cover the rest of the days of the month. To join our club, please contact Janina to register your pledge of a bag(s) of cat food per month. Distributing the costs in this way will make it possible to assure the well being of the kitties at the shelter who besides all their other problems are now being taxed to eat!
We receive no help from the government or local authorities, so therefore we are very dependant on the donations of kind hearted people.
If you would like to make a donation of food, bags or cans, these can be left at the Mini Super two doors down from Salon Diva’s in Bucerias (with Gina (322) 779-5916) or directly here at Paraíso Felino.
We have an official account at Banorte where deposits can be made (Banorte: Paraíso Felino AC, Route/Clabe 072 375 00587787486 8, Acctound #0587787486, through Scotia Bank in Canada (please ask for details), and we accept donations through PayPal on our website.
Please contact me directly if you would like to donate, visit, and volunteer or if you have any questions. Janina can be reached by cellular at (322) 120-4092. From US or Canada, dial 011 52 (1) 322 120-4092. Email is paraiso_felino@hotmail.com.
