After confirming that the second tunnel works were completed and the infrastructure is suitable for use, city officials reopened the new tunnel to road traffic on Wednesday evening.
The Deputy Director of Highways, Jesus Jose Rodriguez Campoy, coordinator of Civil Protection and Fire, Sergio Ramírez López and CEO of Infrastructure and Services, Oscar Delgado Chavez, were responsible to reopen the tunnel to traffic.
They noted that the lighting is now one hundred percent, exhaust fans operate properly and that it has the correct road signs, which was conducted by the Directorate of Roads.

Several elements were also installed to guide motorists in both tunnels to prevent car accidents.
The tunnel was closed in July of this year for the needed repairs and improvements. The tunnels are part of the main road arteries of the municipality which connects the North and South of the city without driving through the busy downtown area of Puerto Vallarta.
