Mariachi Fundraiser Concert for CUCosta Vallarta Opina

In follow-up to the first Mariachi Fundraiser Concert, Dr. Max Greig, rector of the University Centra de la Costa, announced a second concert on site at the Juan Luis Cifuentes Lemus Auditorium.

In a press conference to publicize the details of the event, Dr. Greig said that "the second mariachi concert is a way of promoting the involvement of the University of Guadalajara in society and culture, as at the University Centra Costa, there is a strong interest in promoting cultural activities."

Cesar David Macias Martinez, Outreach Coordinator, who was present at the announcement of the second concert, stated that the mariachi is part of the essence, identity and national culture of Mexico, which has even been declared by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The first and very successful Mariachi Concert organized by CUCosta was held last October and involved Joya de Mexico Mariachi, Real de America and Nuevo Continental, which was captivating to the audience.

Songs like La Negra Cielo Rojo, Llego tu Enamorado, Guadalajara Guadalajara, Ay Jalisco no te Rajes, and a large repertoire of other music held the audience rapt for more than two hours.

The funds raised from the previous concert were used to finance the delegation of student athletes who participated in sports events at the University of Guadalajara. A total of 83 students participated in events such as football, baseball, table tennis, basketball, volleyball, and track & field.

For this occasion, the program includes the Mariachi Navidad, Nuevo Continental and Real de America, and will be accessible through a financial donation made to the University of 250 pesos for VIP, 180 pesos for Preferred and 150 pesos for General Admission.
