Casa Isabel was once again the ideal setting in January for a PuRR-fect Fashion Show and Luncheon! The First Hour Open-Bar really got things off to a good start at the sold-out event.
Kathleen Palmer of Deja New presented an array of models showing a variety of fashions offered from her local consignment shops, highlighted by the always dazzling jewelry from Cassandra Shaw. Many meows to MC Pat Carey who kept the catwalk busy while Sarah Hepting took photos, Sonny Deals gave free massages and Alexander A offered eyebrow threading.
At the end of the day, ticket sales, raffle, 50/50, silent auction and one nice private donation brought in 50,000 much needed pesos for the PuRR Project's local feline shelter.

Adoption Update
Tammy Prust of Nacho Daddy dropped by the Farmer's Market at the Community Center in January and spotted Dali (our Featured Feline that week). It didn't take long to fall for this beautiful long-haired tuxedo with the sweet disposition!
Fortunately, Tammy also got to meet Dali's buddy Paco, a little gray & white male, and wisely decided that two kitty cats are better than one!
Paco is now Picasso and these two lucky kitties with such famous names are the "picture" of happiness. We want to give a big Muchas Gracias to Tammy, a first-time cat owner, for her generosity and braveness. Meow!
Kitty Bingo
Thursday, Feb. 9th was our first of weekly BINGO games at the Basilo Badillo location of D’Z Route 66 Rock N Roll Diner.
It was a lot of fun for the folks who attended, and caller Mikki Proust had the timing down to make sure the games moved along smoothly.
Hosts Michelle & Armando Jimenez offered incredible drink specials during BINGO and a 20% discount on meals for those who stayed for dinner.
We really need more people to attend if this is going to work as an on-going fundraiser. With only 17 people, we still raised a total of 2,700 pesos and the lucky 50/50 winner walked away with 1,000 pesos!! Plus we received several items from the wish list and those people received a FREE Bingo card.
Next week, BINGO will be from 4:30 to 6:30 pm on Thursday, so please mark your calendars and come on down and get YOUR chance to yell MEOW!
Adoption News
PuRR is continuing to bring adoptable cats to our two main adoption posts: Fridays from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm at Plaza Marina and Saturdays at the Farmer's Market from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.
Unfortunately, adoptions have been super slow at the Market this year with only 5 adoptions since it opened in November. We've had 13 adoptions from Plaza Marina during the same time period and a total of 37 since we started there last June. That's less than HALF of the number of cats PuRR took into the shelter during last summer.
Our volunteers are desperately seeking families willing to give loving homes to these kitties so that we may once again open our doors to new rescues. If you are interested in adopting, please visit us or e-mail Linda at lbrasseal@yahoo.com.
