As the heavy tourist season approaches in Puerto Vallarta, the Commissioner of Police and Roads (Comisaría de Policía Preventiva y Vialidad) announced the addition of 100 police units being put into circulation with Segways and ATV's to patrol the tourist areas and ensure safety for visitors.

The brand new Segway devices are two-wheeled, self-balancing, battery-powered electric vehicles which will be used by the previously on-foot officers and will patrol the Malecon and the Romantic Zone area of Los Muertos Beach in Old Town.

The addition of these motorized vehicles will perform constant patrols on the tourist areas and also assist Police Officers if needed.

The Segways and ATV's are in the final stages of being equipped and labeled and you should be seeing them soon as you stroll the Downtown Malecon and Boardwalk of Old Town Vallarta.

With these actions, the Municipal Government presided by Ramon Guerrero Martinez demonstrates compliance with the commitments made to citizens and tourists to improve the safety of Puerto Vallarta.
